In December 2022, the World Bank held the Global Understanding Risk Forum in Florianópolis, Brazil - a biennial conference that convenes experts and practitioners from around the world to showcase the best practices and latest innovations in the field of disaster risk identification and management.
I was hired as the creative director for the opening ceremony, where among one of the most notable pieces was an animation that was projection mapped onto an entire fortress. The video showed a story of the changing climate and emergent catastrophes, and how humans and natural systems can work together to withstand these challenging times - much like the fortress has for many years. The video also utilized real data related to temperature pathways, hurricanes, storm surges, earthquakes, volcanos, and global climate and geohazard data monitoring systems.
